The MotoGPā„¢ Portuguese Grand Prix was first held in 1987 at Jarama Circuit in Spain, due toĀ the main Portuguese circuit, Circuit do Estoril, not being ready for motorcycle racing.Ā However, Portugal still wanted to host a race that season and therefore the Jarama circuit was used. Nine-time World Champion, Valentino Rossi holds the record for most Portuguese wins, with a total of five.Ā
